2 U.S. soldiers sustain injuries in joint raid in Iraq – Pentagon

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Two U.S. soldiers were injured during a joint operation with Iraqi forces in Iraq, which resulted in the deaths of several senior Islamic State (ISIS) leaders, an American spokesperson said on Tuesday.

Pentagon spokesperson Maj. Gen. Patrick Ryder said in a press briefing that both service members were in a stable condition and are receiving medical care for their injuries.

“My understanding is that both of them are in stable condition being treated for their injuries,” Ryder noted.

“CENTCOM and Iraqi security forces conducted a partner raid in Iraq, targeting several senior ISIS leaders. The raid resulted in the death of multiple ISIS operatives.”

Ryder did not disclose details on how they were injured or their current location for treatment.

However, Iraqi Prime Minister Muhammad Shia’ al-Sudani announced on Tuesday that Iraqi forces killed nine prominent ISIS leaders in northern Iraq.

Al-Sudani stated in a post on X platform that Iraqi forces killed the so-called “Wali of Iraq” and eight senior ISIS leaders during an operation in the Hamrin Mountains in northern Iraq.
