Israeli strike in Syria targets Hezbollah financier, kills 2 civilians
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Israeli forces targeted on Monday Hezbollah’s financial head in Damascus, Syria’s capital, an Israeli official announced.
Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Spokesperson Daniel Hagari confirmed that Israel conducted an airstrike in Syria, specifically targeting the newly appointed head of Hezbollah’s financial network.
This individual, who took the role just weeks ago after his predecessor’s death, is responsible for managing the flow of Iranian funds to Hezbollah, Hagari said.
He emphasized that this strike was part of a broader Israeli campaign to dismantle Hezbollah’s financial infrastructure, with further operations expected in the coming days.
In a related development, Syria’s state-run SANA news agency reported that two civilians were injured in the Israeli attack.
A military source informed SANA that an airstrike in the Mezzeh neighborhood of Damascus hit a civilian vehicle, resulting in the killing of two civilians and the injury of three others.
