First international education conference kicks off in Kobani
KOBANI, Syria (North Press) – The first International Education Conference kicked off on Saturday at Kobani University, northern Syria, an area run by the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES).
The conference brings together researchers and educators from Arab and Western countries, as well as universities across Northeast Syria.
Kobani University, founded by the AANES in 2017, serves as the venue for this two-day conference, held under the theme “Educational Transformations in the Era of Innovation: Insights and Applications.”
Dr. Muhammad al-Barho, head of the conference’s scientific committee and co-chair of the Faculty of Education at Kobani University, explained that the conference will explore key topics such as the digital revolution, educational technology, and strategies to address challenges in the educational process.
Researchers from countries including Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Libya, Algeria, Iraq, Germany, the United States, and Uruguay are participating virtually, presenting their findings for discussion among attendees.
Each presentation is followed by a discussion aimed at generating actionable recommendations, designed to draw on international expertise and apply it locally.
Al-Barho emphasized that the primary objective of the conference is to establish communication channels with universities worldwide and to benefit from the wealth of educational knowledge they offer.
Kobani University, one of four universities in the AANES-run region, was founded on Dec. 10, 2017. The campus, near the village of Mazra’at Sufi to the south of Kobani, spans 1,500 square meters and houses 36 classrooms, a large auditorium, a central library, and various administrative offices.
The university currently has approximately 1,500 students enrolled in three faculties: Literature, Education, and Natural Sciences. In addition, the university operates five institutes specializing in Educational Sciences, Medicine, Technology, Administrative and Legal Sciences, and Languages.
