Russian airstrikes kill 10 people in Idlib

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – Russian airstrikes targeted on Wednesday the outskirts of the city of Idlib in northwestern Syria, killing 10 people and wounding 32 others.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) said that Russian aircraft struck a sawmill, a furniture workshop, and an olive oil press near Idlib using heavy explosives.

This marks a significant escalation by Russia against opposition-held areas in northwestern Syria in recent months. The strikes coincided with increased attacks by Syrian government forces in the region.

The strikes claimed the lives of 10 people, including a child, and injured 30 others, 14 of whom were children. Many of the injured are in critical condition, raising concerns that the death toll could rise.

For the past three days, Russian warplanes have targeted posts of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS, once known as al-Nusra Front) in the countryside of Idlib and Latakia, amid escalating shelling between the warring factions.
