U.S. soldier sentenced to 14 years for attempting to aid ISIS ambush
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – A judge sentenced on Friday Cole Bridges, also known as Cole Gonzales, to 14 years in prison for attempting to aid ISIS and plotting attacks on U.S. troops.
Bridges, 24 from Ohio, was convicted Bridges for attempting to provide material support to ISIS and for plotting to murder U.S. military service members.
Bridges, who joined the U.S. Army in 2019 as a cavalry scout, became radicalized and began communicating with an undercover FBI agent posing as an ISIS supporter.
He provided military tactics, attack plans, and training materials, believing they would be used to ambush U.S. troops in the Middle East.
Cole Bridges pleaded guilty to the charges on June 14, 2023.
