Israel kills “terrorist” linked to Hezbollah in southern Syria
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced early on Thursday killing a “terrorist” linked to the Lebanese Hezbollah in an airstrike in southern Syria.
In a rare confirmation, the IDF stated on X platform that they “eliminated” Adham Jahout, “a terrorist in Hezbollah’s Golan Terrorist Network, Hezbollah’s terror cell in Syria, in the area of Quneitra.”
According to the IDF, Jahout had been relaying information from Syrian government officials to Hezbollah and was involved in gathering intelligence along the border to facilitate attacks on the Golan Heights.
On Wednesday, a local source told North Press that an Israeli drone targeted the al-Alam Roundabout near the city of Quneitra, killing a Syrian soldier, Adham Jahout, and wounding another.
The targeted area is near the Israeli border and is located near the eastern entrance to destroyed city of Quneitra, which is situated in a high valley on the Golan Heights.
IDF’s statement is considered rare as Israel typically refrains from publicly acknowledging its military operations in Syria.
