SDF dismantles 2 ISIS cells in Deir ez-Zor, Raqqa
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced on Sunday dismantling two cells of the Islamic State (ISIS) in Northeast Syria.
The SDF said in a statement that their forces conducted two operations on Oct. 2 and 3, in Deir ez-Zor and Raqqa governorates.
The first operation, conducted with support from the U.S.-led Global Coalition, targeted an ISIS leader, Ghazi al-Farhan, in the town of Khsham in the east of Deir ez-Zor.
Al-Farhan was deeply involved in organizing extremist courses for ISIS members, spreading extremist ideologies, and facilitating terrorist activities, according to the statement.
In the second operation in the village of Hamrat in the east of Raqqa, SDF forces captured two ISIS militants, Manhal Ibrahim Al-Hamoud and Madin Ibrahim Al-Hamoud, both originally from Homs.
These individuals were responsible for supplying ISIS cells with weapons, explosives, and military equipment used in attacks on SDF forces, civilians, and public facilities.
