Government forces shell Aleppo, Idlib countryside
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – Syrian government forces escalated on Friday their military operations by launching a barrage of missile and artillery strikes on the Idlib and Aleppo governorates in Northwest Syria.
A military source of the Turkish-backed armed opposition factions, aka the Syrian National Army (SNA), informed North Press that the strikes targeted several towns and villages, including Deir Sunbul, Maarblit, and Kansafra in the southern countryside of Idlib, as well as Afes and Maarat Naasan in the east of Idlib. Dozens of artillery shells and missiles hit these areas.
In the western countryside of Aleppo, the villages of Taqad, Kafr Taal, Kafr Amma, and al-Abzimo were also struck with heavy shelling. The attacks extended to the vicinity of a Turkish observation post located in the village of al-Bara near Jabal al-Zawiya in the south of Idlib.
According to the source, the government forces have significantly intensified their bombardment in recent hours along the entire front line, stretching from the south of Idlib to the west of Aleppo.
