Syrians fleeing Lebanon arrive at camp in Syria’s Hasakah

HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – Dozens of Syrian refugees arrived on Saturday at an IDP camp in Hasakah, northeastern Syria to escape the war in Lebanon.

According to the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES), over 16,243 Syrians and Lebanese have arrived at Northeast Syria, fleeing the escalating violence.

Ahmad Sheikho, a resident of the village of Arisha near Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain) in the northwest of Hasakah, fled to Lebanon with his family following the 2019 Turkish occupation of the city.

Speaking about his recent displacement, Sheikho said they were forced to leave their home again due to the Israeli bombing of southern Lebanon.

After four days of fleeing from the Beqaa region, they arrived at the camp, joining others from Sere Kaniye, he noted.

Moreover, Salwa Jijo, an official in the Sere Kaniye camp, confirmed that 36 Syrian families displaced from Lebanon arrived in the past two days. The camp now shelters over 200 refugees, most of whom are women and children.

Jijo highlighted the severe shortage of resources and their inability to accommodate the IDPs due to limited space and inadequate shelter.

She added they received no aid from relief organizations to help address the issue.
