QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Nearly 6,000 naturalization applications have been submitted in Hamburg, Germany, since June 27, according to a statement by the Office for Migration on Friday.
By mid-September 2024, the total number of naturalization applications in the city had reached 13,658. The majority of applicants come from Syria, Afghanistan, Iran, and Turkey, the office added.
In a broader context, data from the German government shows that 200,100 people were naturalized across the country in 2023, marking a new record for the highest number of naturalizations in a single year.
Syrians, Iraqis, Romanians, and Afghans made up the largest share of those naturalized in Germany last year, according to the office.
