Israeli airstrikes close key border crossing between Syria and Lebanon

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Israeli airstrikes hit a critical road connecting Syria and Lebanon overnight, near the Masnaa border crossing, the U.N. Refugee Agency (UNHCR) reported on Friday.

The Israeli strikes left a large crater, “put a halt on traffic, effectively closing off the route for vehicles at this crossing.”

Speaking from Amman, UNHCR spokeswoman Rula Amin stated that the damage has forced people to cross the destroyed area on foot in a desperate attempt to escape the fighting.

While three other border crossings between Syria and Lebanon remain operational, the closure of the Masnaa route is expected to significantly impact more people attempting to flee.

Israeli military operations in Lebanon have intensified, with airstrikes occurring throughout the night. Additionally, the Israeli government has ordered the immediate evacuation of more than 30 villages in southern Lebanon as fighting escalates.
