NGO in NE Syria launches donation drive for displaced from Lebanon
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Kurdish Red Crescent launched on Wednesday a fundraising campaign for displaced persons arriving from Lebanon in the areas run by Autonomous Administration of East and North Syria (AANES).
In a statement delivered at its center in the city of Qamishli, the Kurdish Red Crescent called on international organizations to show solidarity and contribute to the relief campaign to support returning Syrians and Lebanese refugees.
Delgash Issa, co-chair of the Kurdish Red Crescent, said that the large number of camps in various areas of Northeast Syria will pose challenges in securing accommodation for those coming from Lebanon.
He told North Press that Red Crescent vehicles are currently at the border crossings to provide health services, and the mobile clinic will begin operations starting Thursday.
Issa also mentioned that they are in the process of setting up tents in several areas in northern Syria to facilitate donations.
The team formed by the AANES to monitor the situation of the displaced persons from Lebanon revealed that 7,703 people have arrived in Northeast Syria.
