IED blast kills 2 Iranian-backed militants in Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Two members of an Iranian-backed militia were killed on Monday in an IED explosion in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor in eastern Syria.
A military source told North Press that an explosive device, planted near a post of the Liwa al-Quds, detonated as a military vehicle was leaving the location in the village of al-Salihiyah in the east of Abu Kamal.
The source added that the explosion killed Imad al-Awad and Naji al-Ahmad, while three others sustained injuries and were transported to a military hospital in Abu Kamal for treatment.
The source speculated that the IED may have been planted with insider assistance from within the post.
