CENTCOM airstrikes in Syria kill 37 “terrorists”

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on Sunday the killing of 37 militants of the Islamic State (ISIS) and Hurras al-Din, an al-Qaeda-affiliated group, in two targeted airstrikes in Syria.

The first airstrike, conducted on Sep. 24 in Northwest Syria, killed nine militants, including Marwan Bassam Abd-al-Ra’uf, a senior Hurras al-Din leader responsible for overseeing military operations from Syria.

The operation followed a strike in August that killed another Hurras al-Din senior leader, Abu Abdurrahman al-Makki.

Earlier, on Sep. 16, CENTCOM forces conducted a large-scale airstrike on an ISIS training camp in central Syria, killing at least 28 ISIS operatives, including four senior leaders.

The strike aimed to disrupt ISIS’ capacity to conduct operations against U.S. and ied interests.

General Michael Erik Kurilla, commander of CENTCOM, emphasized that these strikes reflect the ongoing efforts to dismantle “terrorist organizations” in the region and support long-term stability.

No civilian casualties were reported in either operation.
