IED blast kills 3 SNA militants in northern Syria

RAQQA, Syria (North Press) – An improvised explosive device (IED) was exploded on Saturday night in Tel Abyad area, northern Syria, leaving casualties.

The IED explosion targeted a military vehicle of a faction of the Turkish-backed armed opposition, aka the Syrian National Army (SNA) in the town of Suluk in the south of the city of Tel Abyad, northern Syria.

An official from the Turkish-backed Military Police in Suluk said that an IED planted by the roadside was remotely detonated, targeting the vehicle of Abu Saleh al-Hamwi, a commander in the Sultan Murad faction, along with four militants accompanying him on their way to Tel Abyad.

The explosion resulted in the killing of al-Hamwi and two of the militants, while two others were injured.

The city of Tel Abyad and its countryside have been under the Turkish occupation and the SNA control since October 2019 following a Turkish military operation dubbed “Peace Spring” to push away the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) under the pretext of protecting “Turkish national security.”
