Government attack on NW Syria kills 4 HTS militants

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – Syrian government forces launched on Saturday a series of drone and artillery attacks on Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS, once known as al-Nusra Front) positions in Northwest Syria, killing four militants and injuring two civilians.

A military source close to the HTS said that six one-way drones targeted an HTS post in the village of Duwayr al-Akrad, located in the northwestern countryside of Hama, central Syria.

The strikes resulted in the killing of four HTS militants, with additional casualties reported among the group.

In a separate incident, the government forces shelled an olive grove near the village of Majdaliya, east of Idlib. The bombardment injured two farmers who were working in the fields at the time, the source added.

The attack continued with government shelling of multiple villages and towns, including Taftanaz, al-Nayrab, and Sarmin in the eastern countryside of Idlib, as well as areas near Kafr Nouran and al-Jeineh in the western countryside of Aleppo.

No further casualties have been reported from these strikes at the time of writing.

On Sep 26, government forces launched heavy artillery and rocket attacks against positions held by HTS in Idlib, leaving casualties.
