Government forces kill 2 HTS militants, injure others in NW Syria
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – Syrian government forces launched on Wednesday heavy artillery and rocket attacks against positions held by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS, once known as al-Nusra Front), in Idlib Governorate, Northwest Syria, leaving casualties.
The strikes resulted in the killing of two militants of the HTS and multiple injuries.
North Press cited military sources as saying that the Syrian government forces intensified their bombardment on the HTS posts in the western countryside of Aleppo, specifically in Taqad, Kafr Taal, Kafr Amma, and al-Atarib.
Additionally, the strikes targeted areas in the eastern countryside of Idlib, including the village of Deir Sunbul and the town of Sarmin.
The strikes resulted in the killing of two HTS militants and the injury of three others in the village of Taqad, west of Aleppo. Two additional HTS militants were wounded near the city of Atarib.
In response, the HTS retaliated by launching strikes on government positions in the Regiment 46 and the village of Miznaz in the west of Aleppo, reporting direct hits.
The escalation was marked by the presence of Russian warplanes conducting intensive flights over the region, as reported by North Press correspondent.
