YPJ targets Turkish base in Syria’s Manbij, kills 3 soldiers
MANBIJ, Syria (North Press) – The Women’s Protection Units (YPJ), a unit of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), announced on Wednesday that they conducted an operation targeting a Turkish military base in the countryside of Manbij in northern Syria.
According to the statement, the operation resulted in the death of three Turkish soldiers and injuries to four others.
The YPJ specified that the operation was aimed at a Turkish forces base located in the village of al-Yashli in the northwest of Manbij.
They stated that this action was carried out in honor of Shervin Sardar, a YPJ leader who was killed in September 2023, along with two fellow fighters, in a Turkish drone strike.
Founded in April 2013, the YPJ is an all-female force that is mainly made up of Kurds but includes other ethnic groups in Northeastern Syria.
