Iraq bars return of individuals with security concerns from Hawl Camp

HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – Iraqi Ministry of Migration and Displacement announced on Tuesday that individuals with criminal records or security-related concerns will not be allowed to return to Iraq.

Kareem al-Nouri, Deputy Minister of Migration and Displacement, informed the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that around 4,000 Iraqis have returned from the camp and about 15,000 remained.

“Around 4,000 Iraqis have indeed returned, while approximately 15,000 remain in the camp,” al-Nouri said. “Individuals with security files or those proved guilty cannot return to Iraq.”

The official highlighted that the Iraqi government has launched a rehabilitation program for returning IDPs after conducting thorough security checks.
