Government security forces arrest 64 people in Aleppo
ALEPPO, Syria (North Press) – Joint security forces of the Syrian government arrested on Saturday 64 people in the eastern neighborhoods of Aleppo in northwestern Syria.
According to a government security source speaking to North Press, a total of 64 people have been detained, predominantly from the eastern neighborhoods.
The source said that nine detainees were released this morning due to name discrepancies, while the Military Security branch continues to process the remaining individuals in accordance with requests from various authorities.
The source added that the majority of those apprehended were draft evaders, both from mandatory and reserve military service, with some wanted for criminal offences.
The eastern neighborhoods of Aleppo were under the control of Turkish-backed armed opposition factions when fighting broke out with the government forces.
After the Syrian government regained control, these areas remained underserved in terms of both services and security following reconciliations.
