Unknown gunmen target SDF posts in Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Unknown gunmen attacked on Wednesday night a number of posts of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in Deir ez-Zor Governorate, eastern Syria.
The gunmen targeted several posts and checkpoints of the SDF in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, with no group claiming responsibility for the assaults so far.
A military source from Deir ez-Zor told North Press that unidentified gunmen targeted an SDF military post in the town of Diban, east of Deir ez-Zor, with an RPG and machine guns, causing no casualties or injuries.
A similar attack targeted a checkpoint in the village of Jazrat al-Buhamid, west of Deir ez-Zor, with damage limited to material losses.
Unidentified gunmen also launched another attack on an SDF military post in the village of al-Buneital, east of Deir ez-Zor, without any reported casualties, according to the source.
No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attacks, which occurred in an area where ISIS cells are active.
Additionally, SDF positions stationed along the Euphrates River in the towns of Al-Shuhail, Dhiban, Al-Basira, and Darnaj in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor witnessed sporadic clashes with National Defense groups on the western bank of the river.
