HTS extrajudicially executes 3 prisoners in Idlib
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS, once known as al-Nusra Front), executed on Wednesday three prisoners in the yard of the Old Central Prison in Idlib Governorate, Northwest Syria.
The prisoners were accused of collaborating with the U.S.-led Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS.
North Press correspondent said, citing a source from HTS’ General Security Apparatus, the executions were carried out by firing squad in the presence of senior HTS figures, including Abu Mohammad al-Julani and security leader al-Mughira al-Badawi.
The executed individuals were identified as Saad al-Diwani, 29, an Iraqi national, Muhammad al-Hajjar, 24, from Homs Governorate, and Talal al-Hussein, 35, from Idlib Governorate.
They had been detained in Harem Prison, also known as the Old Prison, in the northwestern countryside of Idlib.
The source noted that the prisoners were accused of collaborating with the Coalition but had not undergone any formal trial prior to their execution.
