Syria’s Foreign Ministry condemns Israeli attacks on Hama

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates condemned on Monday the Israeli airstrikes that targeted the countryside of Hama in central Syria.

The Ministry denounced what it termed as an Israeli “aggression” against Syrian territory.

Israeli airstrikes targeted on Sunday night multiple positions in Hama, killing 14 people and injuring 43 others, according to Syria’s state-run news agency, SANA.

The strikes hit areas near the city of Masyaf in the western countryside of Hama.

The Ministry expressed concern over the lack of international response to what it views as Israel’s blatant disregard for international laws and treaties.

Additionally, the Ministry urged all countries worldwide to condemn this Israeli attack and to support Syria’s efforts to halt systematic Israeli assaults and violations.

Moreover, Reuters said that according to two regional intelligence sources, a significant military research center for chemical weapons production near Masyaf was struck multiple times. The sources indicated that the facility was believed to be hosting a team of Iranian military experts engaged in weapons production.

However, a senior regional military source with close ties to both Damascus and Tehran refuted the claims that the facility was involved in chemical weapons production. The source stated that the target was actually a well-known Syrian research center, Reuters added.

The Israeli military has not yet commented on the incident.
