Government forces target HTS positions in Northwest Syria

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – Syrian government forces targeted on Wednesday posts of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) faction, once known as al-Nusra Front, in Northwest Syria.

North Press correspondent reported that four people were injured by heavy shelling due to strikes on the HTS posts on the outskirts of the town of Kafr Nouran, west of Aleppo.

The correspondent added, citing a military source from the HTS, that the government forces targeted the group’s posts in the towns of Bara, Ihsim, Dana, and Majdaliya east of Idlib.

The source noted that the shelling also hit posts of the HTS on the outskirts of the towns of al-Nayrab, Kafr Battikh, and Afes in the east of Idlib, as well as their posts in the villages of the Ghab Plain in the countryside of Hama.

Recently, Northwest Syria has witnessed an escalation between the government forces and the HTS, resulting in casualties and injuries on both sides, as well as the capture of two government soldiers.
