DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Iraqi forces announced on Tuesday the capture of three Islamic State (ISIS) militants during a security operation in Maysan Governorate, eastern Iraq.
Iraqi Ministry of Interior said in a statement that three individuals were captured under Article 4 of the Iraqi Anti-Terrorism Law. During the operation, Iraqi authorities seized unlicensed weapons found in their possession.
The ministry noted that the operation was a coordinated effort involving the Maysan Intelligence and Counter-Terrorism Directorate, along with the Rapid Response Intelligence Division.
The detainees were handed over to the judiciary to proceed with legal actions, according to the statement.
On Aug. 30, the Iraqi forces killed 14 militants of ISIS, including leaders, in Anbar Governorate, western Iraq.
