Iran deploys foreign militants, reinforcements to Syria’s east

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – A source working with Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said on Saturday the militia has brought in significant military reinforcements to its headquarters in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.

The reinforcements entered Syrian territory through al-Sikak border crossing with Iraq and they included equipment, weapons, and militants of non-Syrian nationalities.

Foreign militants of Asian, Iraqi, and Iranian nationalities have joined their positions in eastern Syria. 

The source, who requested anonymity, explained that the IRGC established three new observation points along the Euphrates River in the countryside of the town of Abu Kamal.

Additionally, the Iranian forces have strengthened their headquarters in the al-Fayhaa neighborhood in Abu Kamal, staffing it with foreign militants and advanced weapons, the source noted.  

They have also brought weapons and ammunition into the palm orchards in the village of al-Jalaa in the countryside of Abu Kamal, according to the source.
