ISIS targets home of oil well investor in Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Militants of the Islamic State (ISIS) targeted on Monday the house of an oil well investor in a town in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria, using a hand grenade and a machine gun.

A local source said two armed ISIS members on a motorcycle attacked the house of Khaled al-Saeed, an oil well investor in the town of Shuhail, east of the city of Deir ez-Zor.

The source added that the damages were limited to material losses, while ISIS, in a message sent via WhatsApp, claimed the attack was a warning and that they would strike again if Zakat – Islamic alms – was not paid.

The group imposes Zakat on traders and oil well investors in Deir ez-Zor from time to time; some refuse to pay, while others succumb to the threats.
