Several U.S. troops wounded in latest drone attack in NE Syria
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The latest drone attack on a U.S. base in Northeast Syria injured several American and coalition personnel, Reuters reported on Saturday citing a U.S. official.
The official said that while none of the injuries from the attack were serious, some military personnel are being checked for potential traumatic brain injuries. Additionally, several troops were relocated for further assessment.
U.S. forces were attacked late on Friday with a drone strike in Kharab al-Jir base near the town of Rmelan in northeastern Syria.
Initially, the U.S. military reported no injuries from the attack, but further investigation revealed that some personnel suffered minor injuries, such as smoke inhalation, and they were relocated for safety.
This incident is the second significant attack on U.S. forces in just a few days, amidst rising tensions in the Middle East.
Although no group has taken responsibility for the attack, the official noted that similar incidents have previously been linked to Iranian-backed militias.
