Government accuses SDF of committing violations in eastern Syria

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Syrian government accused on Saturday the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) of carrying out “criminal attacks” in Hasakah and Deir ez-Zor Governorates, eastern and northeastern Syria.

The ministry said in a statement that the SDF launched “criminal attacks on the locals in Deir Ezzor ,Hasaka, and Qamishli,” adding that the alleged attacks led to the killing of “a number of Syrian citizens, including women and children.”

The ministry also described the U.S. presence in Syria as “a blatant violation of Syria’s sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity.”

The ministry’s statement came after the government forces and Iranian-backed militias launched on Aug. 7 attacks and shelling from their positions on the western bank of the Euphrates River on villages in the eastern bank, east of Deir ez-Zor, controlled by the SDF.

The attacks have led to the killing of 11 civilians and the injury of others, according to the SDF Media Center.
