Asayish conduct operation in Syria’s Hasakah after rise in robberies

HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – The Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria (Asayish) carried out on Friday a security operation in the countryside of Hasakah in northeastern Syria in search of individuals involved in criminal cases.

An informed security source said that the operation came in response to local demands to curb the recent surge in kidnappings and robberies in the village of Majaybra and its surroundings in the east of Hasakah.

Majaybirah is located 12 km from the center of Hasakah city and is under the control of the Syrian government forces.

Recently, it has seen an increase in robbery and kidnapping cases affecting residents and passersby.

Local sources in the area reported hearing heavy gunfire along with explosions.

The Asayish is yet to comment on the incident.

On July 28, an armed group robbed workers from the international organization “Save the Children” of money, personal documents, and mobile phones as they were heading to al-Hol camp in Northeast Syria.
