Turkish paper says Assad, Erdogan to meet in Moscow

DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Syrian President Bashr al-Assad and his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan are expected to meet in Moscow, a Turkish newspaper said on Monday.

“The first meeting between Erdoğan and Assad is planned to be held in the Russian capital Moscow,” a source familiar with the issue told Daily Sabah, a Turkish newspaper.

“Putin will mediate the talks while Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al Sudani might be invited,” the source said, adding that the meeting might happen as of August.

The source added that Iran may be excluded from the new process between Damascus and Ankara, a claim which was not confirmed by diplomatic sources, according to the newspaper.
