Lebanese army stops 2200 Syrians from crossing into Lebanon in June
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – The Lebanese army announced on Wednesday thwarting around 2200 Syrians from illegally crossing the border into Lebanon in June.
The army stated that 588 individuals of different nationalities were also detained for their involvement in various crimes, including drug trafficking, theft, smuggling, possession of weapons, illegal residency, driving vehicles and motorcycles without legal documents.
The statement added the Lebanese forces seized 75 different types of firearms, 21 hand grenades, 17 RPG launchers, quantities of light and medium ammunition.
Additionally, they confiscated several vehicles and motorcycles, as well as drugs, communication devices, and surveillance cameras.
They said that the detainees, along with the confiscated items, were handed over to the relevant authorities for further action.
