SDF arrests 2 ISIS members, leader in Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced on Tuesday the dismantling of a terrorist cell of the Islamic State (ISIS) through a tactical operation in the town of al-Suwar in the northern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.
The SDF said in a statement that its Anti-Terrorism Units (YAT) “arrested three ISIS members, including a leader by a successful security operation with the participation and support of the U.S.-led Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS in al-Suwar.”
The SDF added that “the terrorist cell was responsible for terrorist attacks targeting military and civilian associations in the region with an aim to destabilize security.”
The YAT units seized five smartphones, two AK-47 rifles, an AKS rifle, a pistol, a grenade, 16 AK-47 magazines, and three quivers, SDF further added in the statement.
