USCENTCOM commander visits Syria, Jordan to discuss security concerns
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – United States Central Command (USCENTCOM) said on Monday Commander, Michael Erik Kurilla, met leaders and American troops in Syria and Jordan.
USCENTCOM said in a statement on X (formerly Twitter) that Kurilla visited from July 12 to 14 U.S. military facilities in Syria and Jordan “to assess force protection improvements and the overall defeat ISIS campaign.”
The statement added that Kurilla met on July 13 with the head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Yousef Alhnaity and prominent members of his staff to discuss regional security concerns, including the Israel-Hamas war and Houthi attacks in the Red Sea.
The last time Kurilla travelled to Syria was in late February as part of a visit to countries in the Middle East including Egypt, Jordan and Israel to gain an understanding of the security and humanitarian situation.
