NE Syria’s Asayish arrest prominent ISIS leader in Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – The Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria (Asayish) arrested on Saturday a prominent leader of the Islamic State (ISIS) in Deir ez-Zor Governorate, eastern Syria.

In a statement, the Asayish said their forces managed to arrested Khaled Hassan al-Salloum, aka Abu Fatima al-Shaiti, who was holding the position of “financial services emir” in Deir ez-Zor.

The Asayish added that Abu Fatima was leading one of the most dangerous terrorist sleeper cells in the region.

The arrest came following an operation in coordination with the U.S.-led Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS, the Asayish noted.

The Asyaish keeps launching operations to pursue the remnants of ISIS and to ensure the stability and security of the region.

On July 3, the Asayish forces arrested four ISIS members in Deir ez-Zor, and they arrest three other members in Hasakah.
