Canadian woman returned from Syria charged with ISIS links
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Canadian police arrested on Friday a woman who returned from Northeast Syria two years ago charged with relations to the Islamic State (ISIS).
The Canadian police charged Kimberly Polman, 51, with leaving Canada to participate in the activity of a terrorist group, and participating in the activity of a terrorist group.
The police said the charges against Polman came from an ongoing investigation into allegations that she travelled to Syria in 2015 to join ISIS.
Polman was repatriated from Northeast Syria in 2022 and was arrested, but she was not faced any criminal charges.
She was arrested by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in the town of Baghouz, eastern Syria, in 2019 and was sent to Roj camp that holds many ISIS member families.
