Government shelling in Rif Dimashq leaves 5 killed

DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian government forces shelled on Tuesday the village of Kanaker, in Rif Dimashq Governorate, in southwest of Syria, resulting in the killing of five civilians and the injure of others.

A local source told North Press that the government forces targeted the village of Kanaker by heavy artillery, causing at least five killed a number of injured people.

The source noted that the government force shelled the town from the 121 Brigade of the government’s Division 7, stationed in the in the outskirt of the village.

The source further added that the shelling began to cover the government’s Military Security Branch incursion into the village of Sasa, in the southwest of Damascus.

This attack was a response to attack by locals to the checkpoints and posts of the government forces who arrested five members of them following the arrest of a local person called Youssef Zamil by the latter, the source pointed out.

The source said that the residents of the town are now calling for help to stop the shelling and halt the incursion and arrests of the town’s inhabitants.
