Turkish officials meet leaders of SNA factions

ALEPPO, Syria (North Press) – Turkish officials met on Monday night with leaders of the Turkish-backed armed opposition factions, aka the Syrian National Army (SNA), in a military post on the Syrian-Turkish border in Aleppo northern countryside.

An exclusive source told North Press that the Turkish officials pushed the SNA leaders to suppress anti-Turkey protests that erupted in the towns and cities of Aleppo countryside.

The source said the Turkish officials threatened the SNA leaders of taking strict economic and security procedures against the region if they do not suppress the protests.

On Monday, people of the towns and cities under the Turkish occupation and the control of the SNA, of Aleppo Governorate in northwestern Syria, took to the streets to condemn discrimination acts and racist attacks against Syrian refugees in Turkey.

The protesters took to the streets, blocked the roads, invaded Turkish institutions, smashed trucks and vehicles that held Turkish car number plates, and brought down the Turkish flags from all buildings and headquarters.

In response, the Turkish forces brought in military reinforcement and armored vehicles to reinforce their military posts in the Syrian territory.

The Turkish forces responded to the protests in the towns and cities of Afrin, Azaz, al-Bab and al-Atarib in Aleppo countryside with live fire, as they opened fire on the protests, killing five and injuring at least 40.
