River in Syria’s Hasakah completely dried up

HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – A river in the northwestern countryside of Hasakah in Northeast Syria has been almost completely dried up amid water cut off by Turkey for more than 10 years, North Press correspondent reported on Monday.

The correspondent said with the beginning of summer and heat wave, the level of Zirgan River in the town of Tel Tamr, north of Hasakah, has been decreased to be almost completely dried up.

The Zirgan River stems from the Turkish territory and cross the border to Syria in the town of Zirgan (Abu Rasin) to pour into the Khabur River.

The river’s length is 50 km, and there are about 60 villages on its banks.

The town of Zirgan and the northwestern countryside of Hasakah frequently undergo Turkish shelling and water cut off.
