Locals find 2 bodies, one identified as drug dealer in Syria’s Daraa

DARAA, Syria (North Press) – Locals found on Saturday two bodies, one belonging to a drug dealer, killed by unknown gunmen in the countryside of Daraa in southern Syria.

A local source told North Press that residents discovered the body of Dayaf Ayman Alewi on the outskirts of the town of Mahajjah in the north of Daraa with visible close-range gunshot wounds.

Since 2018, Daraa and its surrounding areas have been witnessing a state of chaos and insecurity, with many incidents of killings occurring without any particular group taking responsibility for these attacks.

The sources added that Alewi, who hailed from the Lajat area in eastern Daraa, was known for his involvement in the drug trade and collaboration with kidnapping gangs.

Alewi was associated with Ammar Qasim, aka Abu Jaafar, a member in the Military Security branch of the Syrian government forces in the city of Izraa, according to the source.

In a separate incident, residents found on Friday the body of a young man named Qasim Omar Hassan, known as al-Saqlawi, inside his car in the Maysalun neighborhood in Daraa.

Al-Saqlawi was abducted two days earlier without any party claiming responsibility for the kidnapping.

On June 22, locals found the bodies of three individuals, two of them drug smugglers, in Daraa. A local source told North Press Raad al-Radi and Muhammad al-Sharif trafficked and smuggled narcotics from Syria to Jordan and worked and collaborated with the Military Security Branch of the government forces.
