Israeli airstrikes on Iran-linked site kill 2 people in Damascus

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Two individuals were killed on Wednesday in an airstrike carried out by Israel in southern Syria, a Syrian news agency said.

Syria’s state-run news agency SANA reported citing a military source that at approximately 11:40 PM, “the Israeli enemy” conducted an airstrike from the Syrian Golan Heights that targeted several positions in southern Syria.

The attack resulted in the killing of two individuals and the injury of a soldier, according to SANA.

SANA added that the Syrian air defense system successfully intercepted and destroyed some missiles, but did not provide additional information.

Meanwhile, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) said the Israeli strikes targeted Jihad Al-Binaa Institution, a service center linked to the Lebanese Hezbollah and Iranian militias, near the town of Sayyida Zainab in the south of the Syrian capital Damascus.

SOHR added the airstrikes killed three people including a woman, and injured 11 others.

Moreover, explosions were reported in the village of Tel Sahn in the eastern countryside of Suwayda in southern Syria.

It is unclear whether these explosions were caused by an Israeli attack or by Syrian missiles that were fired to prevent the attack, the SOHR noted.

On June 19, Israeli forces launched drone attacks on two sites in the governorates of Quneitra and Daraa in southern Syria, killing an officer in the government forces, SANA said.
