Jordan forces foil drugs smuggling attempt from Syria, kill smuggler
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Jordanian military forces thwarted on Wednesday an attempt to smuggle large amounts of narcotics coming from Syria into Jordan, and kill a smuggler.
A source in the General Command of the Jordan Armed Forces stated that on Wednesday at dawn their forces foiled the smuggling of large amounts of drugs from Syria.
Since the beginning of the Syrian conflict in 2011, there have been many attempts to illegally enter Jordan and smuggle drugs into the country, with most of these activities coming from Syria and Iraq.
The operation resulted in the killing of a smuggler and the injury of others, who fled back into Syrian territory.
The Jordanian forces seized the narcotics and transferred them to relevant authorities.
