HTS arrests 10 civilians in Idlib

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS, formerly known al-Nusra Front) arrested on Sunday 10 civilians in Idlib Governorate in northwestern Syria on charge of “stirring sedition” against the group.

North Press correspondent said the General Security Service of the HTS arrested 10 individuals through arresting campaigns in the areas of Ariha, Salqin, al-Fu’ah, Jisr al-Shughur, and the city of Idlib.

Among the arrestees were individuals who were previously arrested by the group and were released few days earlier, and they were arrested on charges of incitement against the HTS.

Protests against the HTS and its leader have been ongoing in the countryside of Idlib and Aleppo in northwestern Syria, amid frequent arrest campaigns and violations by the HTS in response. 

The HTS, founded in 2017, controls half of Idlib and parts of Hama, Aleppo, and Latakia governorates in northwestern Syria.
