Unknown airstrikes on eastern Syria kill 2 IRGC militants
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Unknown airstrikes targeted on Friday night sites in Deir ez-Zor Governorate, eastern Syria, killing two militants of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
A military source of the IRGC said two of its militants were killed in an airstrike that targeted a truck loaded with weapons and ammunition on the road leading to the village of Sukkariya to the west of the town of Abu Kamal, east of Deir ez-Zor.
The source added that the airstrikes also hit two armories, one in the countryside of Abu Kamal and the other in the countryside of the city of al-Jalaa, east of Deir ez-Zor.
The areas that were targeted, witnessed a state of alert by Iranian-backed militias, according to the source.
Late in May, Israeli Alma Research and Education Center cited several sources as saying that Iran sent a shipment of weapons to local and foreign Iranian-backed militias in eastern Syria.
The shipment included suicide unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) and was delivered to the local and foreign militias affiliated with Iran, according to Alma.
