QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Iraqi security forces announced on Tuesday the killing of a leader of the Islamic State (ISIS) in the Syrian territory.
Iraqi National Security Service (INSS) said it launched a security operation in eastern Syria during which it killed an ISIS leader.
In a statement, the INSS said it carried out the operation after obtaining the official approvals and coordination with the U.S.-led Global Coalition.
The operation, that was taken place in the town of al-Busayrah in the southeast of Deir ez-Zor, led to the killing of Abu Zainab, an ISIS leader.
The INSS added that Abu Zainab operated on the Syrian-Iraqi border and took part in several operations including transferring weapons and explosives.
