2 landmine blasts hit Syrian Desert, leave casualties

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Two landmine explosions killed on Sunday a child in the Syrian Desert and inured another in Deir ez-Zor city, eastern Syria.

A local source from the city of Palmyra in the Syrian desert told North Press that Abdul wahd al-Khalaf, 14, was riding his motorcycle when a landmine exploded on the outskirts of Plamyra.

Al-Khalaf was instantly killed in the explosion, the source added.

Meanwhile, another source said a 10 year-old boy was injured in a landmine explosion near his house in the al-Sinaa neighborhood in Deir ez-Zor city.

The source added that Muhammad al-Atallah lost three of his fingers in the explosion.
