Turkish strikes on NE Syria pose threats to emergency work – Official

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – An official of the Kurdish Red Crescent said on Saturday the Turkish airstrikes on Northeast Syria pose a threat to the emergency work in the region.

Delgash Issa, co-chair of the Kurdish Red Crescent in Northeast Syria, told North Press that the Turkish frequent airstrikes against their teams hinder their work and pose threats to their members.

Issa’s exclusive statement to North Press came after a Turkish UAV attacked an ambulance of the Kurdish Red Crescent in the western countryside of Qamishli in Northeast Syria on Friday.

He added that such attacks are a breach of the international laws.

The official indicated that their team was heading to a building that was targeted by the Turkish airstrike in the village of al-Hatimiyah, west of the city of Qamishli, to rescue the injured. However, it was targeted by another UAV attack and caused damage to the ambulance without any human casualties.

Delgash Issa called on the international community to prevent targeting the medical teams.

On Friday, the Turkish forces launched a set of UAV attacks on military positions and civilian houses in the countryside of Qamishli killing four fighters of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and injuring 11 civilians including women and children.
