Turkish UAV attack on Syria’s Qamishli injures 11 civilians

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – 11 civilians were reportedly injured on Friday as a result of a Turkish airstrike on the countryside of Qamishli in Northeast Syria.

Hawar news agency, a local news agency operating in north and east Syria, said that Turkish UAVs targeted the villages of al-Henwah and Selmasah in the town of Tel Hamis, south of Qamishli.

It added that the attack led to the injury of 11 civilians including women and children.

Earlier on Friday, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced that two of its fighters were killed in a Turkish UAV attack on two of its vehicles in Tel Hamis.

The Turkish airstrikes came 24 hours after Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, threatened to prevent the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) from holding local elections.

“Turkey will never allow the separatist organization to establish (a terror state) just beyond its southern borders in the north of Syria and Iraq,” the Turkish president said.

The AANES had announced the launch of the municipal elections in its areas in north and northeast Syria on June 11 and called on international organizations to participate in monitoring the elections.
