QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) arrested on Tuesday a man from Detroit charged with supporting the Islamic State group (ISIS).
Jibreel Pratt, 25, from Detroit, a major metropolitan of the state of Michigan, was arrested charged with attempting to provide material support and resources to ISIS, U.S. Attorney Dawn N. Ison announced.
Ison said Pratt was charged with two counts of attempting to provide currency and monetary instruments to ISIS in March and May 2023, respectively.
“The indictment alleges that the defendant attempted to support and join ISIS, which is one of the most brutal terrorist organizations in the world,” Ison added. “These charges reflect our commitment to hold accountable anyone who tries to help terrorists.”
Based on the charges in the indictment, Pratt faces up to 20 years in prison for each count if convicted, according to U.S. Attorney Office.
