Syria’s first lady diagnosed with leukemia
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s wife, Asma al-Assad, has been diagnosed with leukemia, Syria’s presidency announced on Tuesday.
In a statement, the presidency said after several symptoms and clinical signs, followed by a series of medical examinations and tests, Asma al-Assad, 48, was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia.

The presidency added that Syria’s first lady would undergo a special treatment protocol that requires isolation conditions while achieving appropriate social distancing.
It pointed out that she would stay away from direct work or participation in events and activities as part of the treatment plan.
In August 2019, Asma al-Assad recovered from a breast cancer.
